2009 ROCKET III TOURING

When designing a new long distance touring motorcycle, an engine capable of effortlessly devouring the miles is without doubt the best place to start. You could say our designers had an unfair advantage with the unique and highly acclaimed Rocket III 2300cc power plant at their disposal. However the engine, which is specially tuned for low down torque, and the same high specification braking system from the original Rocket III are the only major engineering elements carried over.

Everything else is new.

The Rocket III Touring is purposely designed and built to make it a great Custom Touring motorcycle.
Suspension tuned to achieve high levels of comfort without compromising control, together with 180 mm rear tire and 16 inch wheels make lighter handling. Wide sumptuous seat for both rider and passenger, footboards front and rear, color matched water resistance hard cases and shrouded front forks with polished lower castings provide more comfort, practicality and style.

It’s all new from the rider’s point of view too with new tank mounted instruments, a quick detach screen, switchgear and rider controls including a new heel and toe gear shift.

All together it’s a machine that really does have the power to move you, your pillion and whatever you want to take, no matter how far you want to go.

FEATURES

The Rocket III Touring shares the same engine platform as the Rocket III. Its increased torque at low speeds means that even two-up and fully laden it will accelerate effortlessly for easy overtaking. The engine management system uses sensors to determine the correct fuelling and ignition and tailors the torque curve for each gear ratio. As a result the Rocket III Touring responds quickly, cleanly and strongly at any speed, in any gear.
Engine
The seat has the generous proportion of being 18” wide. The three layer construction with taped seams ensures that water is kept out!
Seat
The colour-matched, hard panniers come as standard and are lockable using the ignition key. They are quick to detach via two quarter-turn fasteners. They have been designed to be free-standing and are fully sealed.
Hard Bags
Teardrop shaped, chromed aluminium castings with removable wear plates, spring mounted with an anti rattle pivot and rubber down stops.
Floorboards
A quick release screen comes as standard with great care paid to the details: The polished stainless steel mechanism and unique spring-loaded mounting bobbins lock the screen solidly in place, while lower air deflectors work with the main ‘blade’ of the screen to deflect turbulence.
Screen
The speedometer and integrated analogue fuel gauge is mounted on top of the fuel tank. The digital display shows a clock, trip and fuel range functions via a button on the handlebars.
